Gables police arrest car theft suspects after Coconut Grove bailout

Gables police search for 2 suspects involved in stolen car bailout in Coconut Grove Coral Gables police were looking for at least two stolen vehicle suspects on Friday morning who bailed out in the nearby Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami.

MIAMI — Coral Gables police said two individuals were arrested Friday following a stolen vehicle chase that began earlier in the morning and involved a third suspect who remains unidentified.

The incident began on the 6100 block of Mall Street in Coral Gables.

Authorities said two suspects — Larry Youte, 18, of Miramar, and an unidentified juvenile — initially fled in stolen vehicles, abandoning them in the nearby Coconut Grove neighborhood before being arrested.

Police said they later located a white BMW believed to be connected to a third individual, but police have not released any description of that person.

They said officers recovered the victim’s stolen Escalade and the BMW, whose owner is unknown.

Earlier, Coral Gables police had set up a perimeter while searching for the suspects, temporarily closing several roads in the area.

Sky 10 flew over the scene around 10 a.m., showing the ongoing investigation in progress.

Two nearby schools, GW Carver Middle School and Coconut Grove Elementary, were briefly placed on precautionary lockdowns, which have since been lifted.

Jail records show Youte is facing one count each of burglary of an occupied dwelling, fleeing or eluding police, resisting arrest without violence, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage and no possession of a valid drivers license.

He was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where is bond was listed as “to be set” as of Saturday afternoon.

Authorities have not identified the juvenile suspect involved in the case at this time.
