MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā One day after President Joe Biden campaigned for cash in South Florida, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley came to Miami Beach to do the same Wednesday, hosting private fundraising events.
Haley, a former South Carolina governor and ambassador to the United Nations, left her first luncheon event at The One hotel on South Beach. Those who attended the luncheon reception forked over anywhere from $2,500 to $10,000 each.
That came just before a $16,000-a-piece private roundtable.
Haley recently finished 11 points behind former President Donald Trump in the New Hampshire primary. Her strategy is incremental increase ā and staying power in the GOP primary as a Trump alternative.
Republican billionaire megadonor Ken Griffin, a former supporter of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantisā presidential campaign, recently threw his support behind Haley, giving $5 million to a super PAC backing her.
āHer poise? Admirable. Her foreign policy experience? Tremendous. Her ability to unite this country? Phenomenal,ā Griffin recently said.
The big question is whether it will be enough when she gets to the upcoming South Carolina primary.
Despite the Palmetto State being her home, itās thought to be a heavy lift for the former governor against the former president in the GOP primary.
