Fire Rescue officials said the Army veteran was suffering from heat exhaustion while working in his yard, so they immediately treated him and cooled him off. Once the man was feeling better, firefighters stepped in to finish cutting the grass. The man’s family, clearly grateful for the gesture, took a photo with the firefighters after the act of kindness.

Firefighters arrived the Tidewater Mobile Home community just before 5 p.m. Wednesday. They were met with heavy smoke and flames when they came upon the engulfed unit. Once they made their way inside, they found the woman lifeless. Authorities said the mobile home was a total loss.

Sky 10 was over the building just after 6:30 a.m. as Miami-Dade firefighters worked to extinguish the fire burning along Northeast 11th Avenue and 126th Street. Authorities said the fire started in a second-floor corner unit of the apartment building. At first, firefighters couldn't get into the building because of personal objects blocking the front door, so they had to go in through the back door. Officials said there is significant smoke damage to the building because smoke got into the rafters and spread throughout the roof of the building.
