Broward County deputies arrested a man Wednesday who authorities said was operating a boat with alcohol and drugs in his system and crashed it into a jetty along Hillsboro Inlet last August, injuring four people.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office released video Monday that shows five men being rescued at sea last month after their boat submerged.

For some South Florida residents, their oceanfront property and their amazing views are in jeopardy after an investment company claimed to own parts of the Hillsboro Inlet and the backs of several million-dollar waterfront homes.

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A property development company claims it owns parts of the Hillsboro Inlet and the backyards of several houses nearby. The address 2000 Bay Drive in Pompano Beach is just south of the Hillsboro Inlet on the Atlantic. The property appraiser claims part of the area the developer claims to own includes parts of the Hillsboro Inlet and parts of a Coast Guard station, as well several backyards of million-dollar homes on Bay Drive. So much of the property is within the Hillsboro Inlet, which people utilize every day for recreation purposes. It’s complicated, but Hillsboro Inlet Investments legally obtained ownership of the property from the sole surveying director of a dissolved realty company.

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - The body of a 60-year-old man was found Wednesday in the ocean near the Hillsboro Inlet, the U.S. Coast Guard said. A Coast Guard helicopter and boat crew spent several hours searching for the missing boater, whose body was found about a half-mile from the Hillsboro Inlet. Rescuers from various agencies assisted in the search for the boater. The Coast Guard said Broward Sheriff's Office divers pulled the body from the water. Wednesday marked the start of the two-day lobster mini-season.
