A judge has granted the release of former San Francisco 49er Dana Stubblefield after his 2020 rape conviction was vacated by a California appeals court last December.

Ex-San Francisco 49er Dana Stubblefield will remain in California state prison for now after a judge declined to make a bail ruling.

Last week, the Sixth District Court of Appeal denied a related petition filed on behalf of Stubblefield by his attorneys. A jury in July found Stubblefield, 49, guilty of raping the woman with the threat of a gun.
