No riders were aboard and the incident isn’t affecting Metrorail service, Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works spokesperson Deborah Souverain said.

It happened at the agency’s yard off Milam Dairy Road.

“A train’s wheels came slightly off track while traveling over a switch, causing minor damage to the rail and a couple of train cars that came in contact,” Souverain said in an email to Local 10 News. “This is not an uncommon occurrence at rail yards across the county, where all trains are stored, cleaned and serviced during overnight hours.”

She added, “DTPW crews are on site working to re-rail the train and assess the situation.”
