NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – A woman is facing a first-degree felony charge after North Miami police said she stabbed her 13-year-old daughter with a fork.
Police arrested Kam Avdeyeva Whitaker, 37, on a charge of aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm on Saturday. Jail records show the crime happened while she was out on felony bond for grand theft of a vehicle.

According to the arrest report, the incident happened on Nov. 2 as Whitaker and her daughter were arguing about her daughter’s cellphone.
“The dispute escalated to where (Whitaker) grabbed a kitchen fork and stabbed the victim on the left side of her head, causing (a) minor laceration and bleeding,” police wrote.
Authorities said Whitaker then fled and she was later located at a home on Northeast 142nd Street on Saturday on an unrelated matter.
As of Monday afternoon, she was being held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
