MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Surveillance video released Wednesday shows the moments authorities say a man stabbed a 17-year-old girl at Miami International Airport in late July.
Authorities said Alexander Love, 29, stabbed the victim 18 times with a butcher knife and tried to throw her over a railing on the airport’s fourth floor shortly after 11:30 p.m. on July 20.
An arrest report states that the victim was stabbed eighteen times in her arms, shoulders, neck, face and head and leg.
According to an arrest report, the attacker attempted to push the victim over the safety retaining glass, which would have caused the stabbed teenager to fall from the fourth floor to the first. However, the victim managed to escape and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.
Investigators said the knife ambush was unprovoked, occurring while the victim was simply eating a meal.
Love, who is homeless, allegedly told police that he was under the influence of a drug during the attack.
He remained held without bond at Miami-Dade County’s Metro West Detention Center on two attempted murder charges as of Wednesday.
Police have not disclosed a motive for the attack at this time.
