OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – Authorities arrested an Opa-locka man Monday after they said he threw a rock at a marked police cruiser.
According to an arrest report, an Opa-locka Police Department sergeant was parked and reviewing reports at the Murphy USA gas station at 13730 NW 27th Ave. at around 10:45 a.m. and was “startled” when Jayron Perez Cabrera threw the four to five-inch rock at the car.

Witnesses pointed at Perez Cabrera, 27, as he walked south and another officer was able to take him into custody, police said.
The report states that video footage “clearly showed” Perez Cabrera hurling the rock.
“The rock was thrown with such force that it broke the handle on the police vehicle and put a large dent in the metal frame,” it states.
Perez Cabrera is now facing charges of shooting or throwing a deadly missile and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
Jail records show that a Miami-Dade judge set his bond at $7,500. Perez Cabrera remained held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Tuesday.
