FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – Florida City police arrested a woman Monday morning after they said a 2-year-old boy tested positive for cocaine after being brought to the hospital the evening prior.
Stephanie Ann Johnson, 30, of Homestead, is facing felony child neglect and cocaine possession charges.

According to police, Johnson told a detective that she had picked the boy up earlier Sunday from her brother’s house in Homestead and, after stopping at Wendy’s, took him to a man’s house in Florida City where she helped clean.
The arrest report doesn’t explicitly state whether Johnson is the child’s mother.
While Johnson was cleaning the bathroom, police said the man brought the boy into the bathroom and told her that the 2-year-old had sprayed bleach onto his face and in his eyes.
An arrest report states that the woman began putting water on the child’s face and after 15 to 20 minutes, she had the man drive her and the boy to a Homestead health clinic, which was closed, and then to an urgent care clinic.
Police said the boy was taken to the Homestead Hospital afterward.
A nurse at that facility told police that the boy “had bumps on his nose, redness around the face” and “couldn’t open his eyes” because of the bleach, the report states. The child was also “shaking from the cocaine,” police said, and was airlifted to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
The boy had tested positive for cocaine and officers found a baggie of cocaine in Johnson’s pocket as well as two empty baggies of cocaine in her purse, the report states.
Police said Johnson already had a case pending with the Florida Department of Children and Families at the time of her arrest.
Johnson was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond as of Monday afternoon, according to jail records.
