Broward OnlyFans creator used site to get child sexual abuse material, deputies say

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – An Oakland Park man who ran an OnlyFans account which reportedly had hundreds of subscribers is accused of using the adult-oriented platform to receive and view child sexual abuse material.

Deputies arrested Christopher Hall Varney, 59, on Wednesday, according to jail records.

According to an arrest report authored on Feb. 13, investigators zeroed in on Varney after OnlyFans tipped off the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to child sexual abuse material on his account in May 2021.

The report states that Varney ran an account called “FTLgloryHole” containing videos of anonymous sex meetups between him and other men that could be viewed for $5 per month.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office investigation didn’t focus on Varney’s public-facing content, however, but his private messages on the website.

The report detailed alleged excerpts of Varney’s direct messages beginning in September 2020. It states the exchange of child sexual abuse material began after a subscriber asked Varney about his youngest sexual partner.

Deputies said Varney then asked the user if he had any videos of “y0ung” — using a “0″ instead of an “o” in an apparent, yet ultimately unsuccessful, attempt to evade flagging.

Varney also alluded to having had a 14-year-old boy perform a sex act on him at one point and gave his conversation partner tips on how to avoid age becoming an “issue” in sexual meetups, the report states.

At one point, Varney’s conversation partner offered to make a video involving a 14 or 15-year-old and then sent Varney eight files of child sexual abuse material depicting boys between the ages of 8 and 16, according to BSO.

The report states the other man sent the files after asking Varney “you don’t mind if they’re too y0ung?”

Deputies wrote that Varney replied, verbatim: “you asked if i MIND if theyre too yng. Too yng? whats THAT? lol” and went on to describe his “favorite” image.

The user sent Varney additional files, again containing child sexual abuse material featuring boys as young as 8, deputies said.

Deputies said Varney apparently drew the line at material depicting toddlers, however.

The report states that after receiving such material from the other user in 2021, Varney replied: “that’s a little disturbing...” but told the user it was “all good” after he apologized.

Varney said the material “freaks (him) out,” especially because “they seemed like they weren’t exactly willing,” deputies said. Later, they said he advised the user to “clear out” messages, “just in case.”

Deputies wrote that while Varney didn’t send any messages containing child sexual abuse material, he did request and receive them and discussed his attraction to children, “to include the specific sexual abuse a child would endure if left under his care.”

By the time deputies executed a search warrant at Varney’s home on Northwest 46th Court in May 2022, the OnlyFans account had been closed, but Varney continued to engage in anonymous sex and posted content on other social media applications, including Twitter, the report states.

According to the report, Varney, who claimed to have more than 750 subscribers, admitted to receiving child sexual abuse material and talking “with a guy who was into younger kids” but that he “didn’t want to make any of his subscribers feel like he was shaming them.”

Varney told detectives he was “not attracted to children” and said that it was “all a fantasy,” deputies wrote.

A search of Varney’s digital devices did not reveal any additional child sexual abuse material, the report states.

BSO forwarded the case on to the Broward State Attorney’s Office for a case filing decision.

Following the decision to press charges, Varney appeared in Broward County court Thursday.

He faced three child pornography charges as well as a charge of distributing material harmful to a minor within 2,500 feet of a school. Varney’s home is about a half-mile away from Lloyd Estates Elementary School.
