Man says son, ex-wife were among 5 shot dead at home in Miami Lakes

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. ā€“ Rolando Aguilar said his 34-year-old son and his 54-year-old ex-wife were among the five people who turned up dead on Friday inside a home in Miami Lakes.

While police had yet to release the identities of the victims, Aguilar said his son Dhani Aguilar and his ex-wife Joanka Aguilar died in the home near the intersection of Northwest 87 Court and 148 Terrace.

According to Detective Alvaro Zabaleta, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, three of the dead were women and two were men ā€” including one who shot himself.

Police officers first responded to the home at about 10 a.m., after a relative of the victims called 911 shortly after 9:50 a.m., according to police.

When no one answered the door, police officers broke into the home through a window and found the four shooting victims and a man who had shot himself inside in different rooms, according to Zabaleta.

By late Friday night, a team from the Miami-Dade Medical Examinerā€™s Office had removed the bodies from the home. Neighbors said they didnā€™t hear the shooting.

Detectives suspect it was a murder-suicide. They were asking anyone with information about the case to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
