OCALA, Fla. — Florida authorities issued an Amber Alert on Monday for a teenage girl believed to have been kidnapped from Ocala. She was later found unharmed and her suspected captor died in a police shooting.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Juliet Arioso, 13, was believed to be in the company of 45-year-old Jason Castillo.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, at around 5:20 p.m., deputies located Castillo’s vehicle and he refused to stop.
He was shot dead after a pursuit ended.
“This remains an active investigation,” according to MCSO. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”
