Sept. 19: Soggy September continues with more rain on the way

Local 10 News

Our soggy September continues with a good chance of mainly afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms this weekend.

An upper-air low-pressure system over the eastern Gulf will pull in tropical moisture and add several more inches of rain on top of the 4 to 7 inches we’ve already seen in some spots over the past week.

This is great news for our drought conditions. However, your outdoor plans might be impacted, especially later in the day.

Little change is expected through next week, so keep the umbrellas handy and be prepared for even more rain, which could push our totals to around 15 inches for the month in some spots.

There’s no drier air in sight, although some computer models hint at our first cold front of the season by next weekend.

Despite the fact that autumn arrives Tuesday, we’ll see highs near 90 degrees through the next seven days, so our South Florida fall will have to wait a while longer.
