Sept. 17: Morning flooding in Broward County is the start to another stormy pattern

Parts of South Florida, especially around Fort Lauderdale, have picked up 3-6 inches of rain so far Thursday morning. The worst of the flooding is ending with only spotty downpours off the Atlantic for the rest of the afternoon, although some still could back build along the coast and produce localized areas of heavy rain.

More of the same is on the way Friday into the weekend as a storm system north of the Bahamas moves into Florida and stalls out for a few days. This will give us rounds of thunderstorms, especially in the afternoons. Some storms could be severe with damaging winds, hail, and intense lightning. This wet pattern will last well into next week.
