Drone in Caribbean Sea records video of monster waves caused by Beryl

OFF PUERTO RICO – We are seeing more and more video of the deadly destruction caused in the Caribbean islands by Hurricane Beryl.

Now, we are also seeing the power of the monster hurricane at sea.

An autonomous drone captured video of giant waves in the Caribbean Sea about 115 miles south of Puerto Rico on Tuesday.

The drone is located north of where Beryl tracked on Tuesday, but it showed how the hurricane was kicking up major swells.

The drone, which is operated by the marine science outfit Saildrone, recorded 22-foot waves.

Saildrone operates dozens of unmanned surface vehicles or saildrones around the world.

The robotic sailboats are powered by wind and solar energy and document important information about hurricanes and other weather events.
