PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Fun, food and fireworks! The Fourth of July is tomorrow and we will definitely be celebrating in true South Florida summer fashion-- with heat!
Drier air is continuing to push into South Florida, lowering our rain chances. But this means a lot more sun, and therefore, higher temperatures.
Expect mostly dry conditions all day with the exception of a few isolated showers for the morning hours until noon. The sea breeze will push inland very early in the day, taking the shower chance with it.
This will allow highs to soar into the low to mid 90s. However, with the high amount of low-level moisture we have, heat indices will skyrocket.
Heat index values are expected in the 105-110 range, prompting a heat advisory through Thursday. This is dangerous heat.
While beach plans and outdoor BBQs are a go for Thursday, be sure to take breaks indoors or in the shade to give yourself a break from the heat. Heat exhaustion can creep up very quickly in this heat.
Our fireworks forecast is looking great with dry conditions and a few passing clouds Thursday evening. Prime beach firework viewing is expected! It will be very muggy with those feels like temperatures staying in the mid 90s for much of the evening. Stay hydrated, stay safe, and have fun!
And if you are travelling, don’t expect to escape this heat. This heat wave not only encompasses the entire Southeast and Southern Plains, but up to our nation’s capital as well! Highs are forecast to mirror or exceed Miami’s highs in Washington D.C. Even New York will be hovering near 90 degrees.
