Flood risk is very low Saturday in South Florida

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – New flooding is highly unlikely on Saturday in South Florida where widespread clouds are set to keep the chance of rain at 50%. Areas where the soil is already saturated are the exception.

There will be on-and-off drizzle and small downpours in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The forecast includes an inch or two of rain in an isolated spot.

The National Weather Center extended a flood watch for coastal areas until 8 p.m., Saturday, when high temperatures will be held down in the 80s.

Father’s Day on Sunday will be better for outdoor plans. The forecast then is mostly cloudy and the flood threat will be gone.

This is a much-needed relief. There were scattered showers on Friday after three days of heavy rainfall flooded some areas in both counties causing property damage, covering some roads, and prompting evacuations.
