Flood Watch in effect for all of South Florida; MIA reports some cancellations due to weather

MIAMI – A Flood Watch is in effect for all of South Florida until Thursday.

Widespread rainfall, heavy at times, will overspread the area Tuesday and periods of heavy rainfall are likely through the remainder of the workweek as a plume of tropical moisture remains over the region.

Between now and Thursday night, rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches are anticipated across the area with isolated spots reaching 10 inches or more.

Flash flooding is our biggest threat during this time.

Due to severe thunderstorms in Miami-Dade Tuesday morning, some flights at Miami International Airport were delayed or canceled, and airport officials say more are expected as the day continues.

“Travelers are urged to confirm the status of their flight with their airline before coming to MIA so they can make other travel arrangements, if necessary, from their home or hotel and avoid potential congestion and poor weather conditions at or near the airport,” a spokesperson for the airport told Local 10 News in an email.
