Miami-Dade, Broward schools to reopen Wednesday

MIAMI – At the threat of Hurricane Dorian to South Florida passes, local schools are announcing plans to reopen.

Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie announced Tuesday that all Broward schools will be open starting Wednesday.

Miami-Dade Public Schools will also reopen Wednesday.

The Archdiocese of Miami will close all Catholic schools through Tuesday.

The Monroe County School District will be closed Monday and Tuesday. 

All private Gulliver campuses will be closed Saturday through Tuesday. Palmer Trinity School will also be closed Saturday through Tuesday. Ransom Everglades will be closed Saturday morning and will not reopen until Wednesday at the earliest.

American Heritage School, with campuses in Plantation and Delray Beach, will be closed through Tuesday.

St. Paul Lutheran School in Boca Raton will remain closed through Wednesday. 

Parents are advised to watch news reports or check school websites for the latest information ahead of Hurricane Dorian.

The University of Miami, meanwhile, announced that classes at the Coral Gables, marine and medical campuses will be canceled beginning at noon Friday and continuing through Tuesday. Classes are expected to resume as normal on Wednesday. 

However, the University of Miami/Miller School of Medicine will be open to provide health care to its patients on Friday and Saturday during normal business operations. 

All UM events scheduled over Labor Day weekend on the Coral Gables and marine campuses have also been canceled. 

All Florida Atlantic University campuses closed at 12:30 p.m. Friday and will remain closed through Wednesday.

Nova Southeastern University will reopen all campuses on Thursday.

Miami Dade College will resume classes Wednesday. 

Barry University ceased all university operations at 5 p.m. Friday and will resume classes at 8 a.m. Thursday. 

St. Thomas University has canceled classes for Friday through Wednesday. 

Lynn University will remain closed through Wednesday. Campus will reopen and classes will resume Thursday.  

The Lauderdale Lakes campus of Florida Career College will be closed through Tuesday.

Florida Memorial University closed Friday and will remain closed until further notice. 

Florida International University will reopen Wednesday.

Johnson & Wales University will reopen its North Miami campus Wednesday

The University of Fort Lauderdale will be closed from noon Friday until further notice.

All Broward College campuses will close at noon Saturday and remain closed until further notice. 

Keiser University will close all Miami-Dade and Broward campuses on Tuesday. 

URBE University in Sweetwater will cease operations from 2 p.m. Friday through Tuesday, including all online classes. 

Albizu University in Miami-Dade County will be closed through Tuesday.

West Coast University's Miami campus will be closed through Tuesday.  

The College of the Florida Keys will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday. 

The University of Florida will reopen Thursday.

The University of Central Florida has closed its campus and canceled all campus events through Thursday. Online courses are also canceled.
