Heat advisory issued for inland South Florida

Julie Durda says South Florida to feel 'oppressive heat'

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. ā€“ Local 10 News meteorologist Julie Durda said Thursday that South Florida is in store for another day of "oppressive heat."

The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a heat advisory for the inland areas of South Florida.

Durda said heat indices are expected to reach 110 degrees for more than a few hours.

Feels-like temperatures were already 97 degrees in Fort Lauderdale, 93 degrees in Miami and 100 degrees in Key West before 7 a.m.

"We're only going to heat up from here," Durda said.

The affected areas are inland Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties, as well as mainland Monroe County. The heat advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

"Even though you may not be in the highlighted area, you're still going to have to deal with feels-like temperatures in the triple digits," Durda said.
