Tropical Depression 13 takes shape in Atlantic

System may strengthen in next 48 hours

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Tropical Depression 13 formed Monday in the far eastern Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center, reports.

The system's center is moving toward the west at 12 mph and is expected to shift west-northwest on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The system's maximum sustained winds are about 35 mph and are expected to strengthen in the next 48 hours, becoming a tropical storm either Monday night or on Tuesday.
