President Joe Biden addressed the nation Thursday after former President Donald Trump’s election victory.
It comes as we learn more about Trump’s transition team and potential cabinet picks and who might be fired right away.
“It’s still sinking in,” Tom Dans, deputy director of Mighty American Strike Force, said Thursday.
Just a few yards from Mar-a-Lago, Dans was in awe of Trump’s landslide political comeback.
“It’s just such a phenomenal win. So much hard work,” he said.
Dans said his organization is a grass roots get out the vote group that was established in 2000.
He said they were on the ground in swing states like Pennsylvania, working to convince voters to pick Trump.
He said the economy swayed voters the most.
“100% it was the economy -- inflation and the economy,” Dans said. “And that cut across all demographics -- really age groups too.”
Dans was in Palm Beach Thursday with a friend, Jorgen Boassen, a Trump fan all the way from Greenland.
“I admire Trump for what his policy is for the world,” Boassen said.
He says he’s relieved by the election results.
“We’re only 56,000 people and nobody can protect us like the U.S.,” Boassen said.
Work is already underway to shape the next Trump administration.
Sources tell ABC News that Trump plans to fire FBI Director Chris Wray quickly, as well as career prosecutors who worked on the criminal cases against him.
Trump’s also made clear he would fire special counsel Jack Smith who brought those 44 charges against him, though sources tell ABC News that Smith is in active talks with Department of Justice leadership about ending both his cases.
Sources also say Trump’s transition team is preparing pardons for those convicted of charges related to Jan 6.
Trump’s team is just beginning to discuss potential cabinet picks and White House jobs.
Trump has talked about Elon Musk, who spent over $100 million to help him win, running a new department of government efficiency, pledging to slash $2 trillion from the federal budget.
“Your money is being wasted and the department of government efficiency is going to fix that,” Musk said.
And Robert F. Kennedy Jr. -- a known vaccine skeptic -- has discussed overseeing public health agencies.
“I’m going to let him go wild on health,” Trump said.
“I think the American people are going to be very excited at who comes on the scene,” Dans said.
