On Election Day, the voters of Broward County made their choice, and they wanted four more years of Tony at the helm.

Tony has served as sheriff since being appointed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2019, and then winning an election in 2020.

He is a Democrat whose campaign highlights his work in enhancing training for first responders, particularly in collaboration with the Public Safety Commission formed after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

Whatley is a veteran of the Marine Corps with nearly three decades of law enforcement experience.

The Sun Sentinel, Broward County’s longtime newspaper, chose not to endorse either candidate for Broward sheriff, describing both as “underqualified.”

Despite repeated requests, Tony’s campaign said he would not participate in any debates or public discussions ahead of the election.
