SWEETWATER, Fla. – Steady streams of voters visited their local precincts throughout Miami-Dade County on Election Day.
In Sweetwater, a city of around 20,000 people, people came to the polling location at Ronselli Park to cast their ballots.
While voters were steady, there was rarely any line for people to wait.
5 p.m. report:
It was a similar story at the Key Biscayne Community Center, where there were voters coming steadily throughout the day, but to major delays or wait times were observed.
Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has been touring the county to make sure things have run smoothly as residents make their votes.
“We know that 60% (of Miami-Dade registered voters) voted before Election Day, which is also very encouraging,” said Levine Cava. “We did not want to have crowds at the polls, so it’s working very, very well. I’ve been to several polling stations and everything is very smooth.”
The mayor said she hopes to have election results come in early on Tuesday.
