Vote 2024: Early voting continues in South Florida

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – It is the second week of early voting here in South Florida.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been heading to the polls, including hundreds of voters in Pembroke Pines.

Local 10 News stopped by a polling site there on Monday.

Early voting has now become the norm for some voters we spoke with. It’s their way of avoiding the stress and long lines on Election Day.

6 p.m. report:

“Whether it’s local elections or national elections, it’s super important for us to do our civic duty and vote because if we don’t do it, when things come down, whether you like them or not, it’s what you have to live with until the next time,” voter Kia Samuel said.

A number of voters showed up as a family to make their voices heard, all while being courted by candidates’ supporters and their sea of signs.

“Our forefathers sweat blood and tears to be able to get us to vote, so anybody able to vote, get out here and vote,” voter Gus Morgan said.

Supporters from both sides and nearly every race pushed to get their candidates’ messages across to voters as we inch closer and closer to Election Day.

Early voting goes through Nov. 3.
