Event organizers were there to share the importance and critical role of the LGBTQ+ vote in Florida.
“We have to make sure that we cover Broward County in opportunities to get people turned out to vote,” said Wasserman Schultz. ”Why? because we are the bluest county in this state and we have to make sure we run up the score here and we will.”
“Talk to 40 people in the next 2 weeks and tell them to get out to vote. were going to win and we will win strong,” said Newton. Because right here, this group right here - the Florida LGBTQ Democratic caucus. It makes a huge difference, especially in a city like Wilton Manors.”
The Caucus, alongside the Dolphin Democrats, operates the GOTV center each election cycle to mobilize voters.
In addition to the center in Wilton Manors, a second location is opening in Tampa on Tuesday in partnership with the Hillsborough LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus.
A news release stated that speakers will address the importance of LGBTQ+ voter turnout and the excitement surrounding Kamala Harris’s campaign, which is boosting down-ballot races across the state.
The GOTV Center is located at 2000 Wilton Drive, through the north entrance of Tropics Grille.
It will be open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
