MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava was re-elected mayor Tuesday, winning 59% of the votes.
The incumbent mayor defeated six challengers, including Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid, former Surfside Mayor Shlomo Danzinger, former Florida 28th congressional district candidate Carlos Garín, Cuban-American social media influencer Alexander Otaola, trapeze artist and Libertarian Miguel Quintero, and cargo and transportation executive Eddy Rojas.
“We are taking care of business. People see me as taking care of business, and that is why they support me across the aisle,” the mayor said after winning a second term.
Levine Cava celebrated her win at a watch party Tuesday night in Little Havana.
“In fact, some of my opponents wanted to make up stories that I wasn’t taking care of business, but that is exactly what I was doing,” she said.
WE DID IT! I am humbled & honored to have earned the trust of our residents to serve another four years as your Mayor. Together, we achieved a decisive victory, proving that when we unite for progress, we are unstoppable. Let’s celebrate tonight—tomorrow, we continue the work. pic.twitter.com/Rs5syn3NmE

Levine Cava became the first female mayor in Miami-Dade’s history when she was elected in 2020.
Her campaign website touts her work tackling the affordability crisis and reducing gun violence in the community.
It also notes how she “passed historic tax cuts and cut red tape to build a business-friendly environment.”
“Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has proven to deliver time and time again for our County,” her campaign website states. “She has championed everyday issues and made our county government more transparent and effective for all residents.”
The Florida Democratic Party issued the following statement after her win.
“Four years after making history as the first woman mayor of Miami-Dade County, Daniella Levine Cava has done it again,” FDP Chair Nikki Fried said in a statement. “As the first woman elected as Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture, I know the pressure that comes with breaking the glass ceiling — and Mayor Levine Cava has more than risen to the occasion.
“After four years leading one of the largest, most complex, and most important counties in the country, Mayor Levine Cava has proven herself a bold leader capable of delivering results for the people of Miami-Dade County. Her vision, integrity, and commitment to results shows through in her work — she’s lowered crime, tackled the affordability crisis head on, prioritized the environment, and strengthened the local economy.
“Miami-Dade County is in good hands with four more years of Daniella Levine Cava. Congratulations, Madam Mayor!”
