PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – The city of Pembroke Pines has selected a new mayor.
Longtime Mayor Frank Ortis is set to retire after serving as mayor and on the city commission for nearly 30 years.

Elections were held on Tuesday, and the race to replace Ortis came down to three people: Iris Siple, Angelo Castillo and Elizabeth Burns.
Voters ultimately selected Castillo as the next mayor of Pembroke Pines. He received 55% of the vote.
Castillo previously worked as Director of Human Services for Broward County.
He has also served on the city commission since 2004 and has been asked to serve as vice mayor four times.
Siple received 34% of the vote on Tuesday. She is the current vice mayor and has served as District 3 Commissioner since 2004.
She also worked as the chief administrator in the Broward Clerk of the Court Howard Forman.
Burns received 10% of the vote. She has not served in public office, but has worked and lived in Pembroke Pines for approximately 25 years, according to her campaign website.
She has worked as an event planner and said she is running for office in order to spark change in the city.
