Fatal accident shut down parts of I-95 in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A fatal accident shut down parts of I-95 in Hollywood during the morning commute.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Indiana Miranda, a man was improperly on the roadway, walking on the center lane of I-95 Northbound between Sheridan Street and Stirling Road, when a vehicle struck him.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Sky 10 was over the scene as regular and express lanes were closed just after 6 a.m.

Debris was scattered along the roadway.

Traffic was being diverted off of I-95 Northbound at Sheridan Street.

U.S. 1 to the Florida Turnpike was the alternate route for drivers as authorities cleared the scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
