Tractor-trailer catches fire on Turnpike at Kendall Drive

Fire shuts down southbound lanes from Kendall Drive to Southwest 120th Street

KENDALL, Fla. – A tractor-trailer caught fire Wednesday afternoon on Florida's Turnpike at Kendall Drive.

The fire was reported shortly about 4:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway.

All southbound lanes were closed from Kendall Drive to Southwest 120th Street as authorities extinguished the flames and cleared the scene.

"Approximately seven units responded, including the foam truck from Tamiami Airport. We were able to extinguish the fire safely and there were no injuries," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Felipe Lay said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
