PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. ā SurveillanceĀ cameras recorded the moment the driver of a Toyota minivan slammed into the back of a school bus with students on board.
Another driver's video shows the erratic driver of the minivan before the crash. Andre Addison said the driver of the Toyota minivan was erratically weaving through traffic at Pembroke Pines.
Addison believes he was fighting with the driver of a ToyotaĀ RAV4. Seconds later, Addison witnessed the aftermath of the crash on Pembroke Road and Southwest 68th Avenue.Ā
"He was slapping someone like out of the car, he was slapping at someone and cursing," Addison said.Ā
The driver of the bus had stopped at a red light during the crash. Broward County Public Schools spokeswoman Nadine Drew said four students from South Broward High School were in the school bus.Ā
"We all heard the screech,"Ā HenrivanaĀ Hixson, a student who was in the bus. "And then, we all went like that. So my neck kind of hurts a little bit."
DanielĀ Quinones, one of the four students in the bus, said he also hear the the tires screech.
"I felt the strong impact of the car," Daniel said. "Everything shook."
None of the students or the school bus driver were injured, but the driver of the minivan was trapped. Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue reported using "the jaws of life" to get him out. He wasĀ conscious but dazed, according to Addison.Ā
Addison said he suspects the driver of the minivan was driving under the influence. Police were still investigating the crash on Friday night.Ā
Paramedics took the driver of the minivan, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and another person with minor injuries to Memorial Regional Hospital.
