DAVIE, Fla. – A tractor-trailer fire closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 for several hours Saturday.
The truck caught fire on I-595 between University Drive and Pine Island Road.
Firefighters extinguished the flames, and no injuries were reported, Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Wysocky said.
"The tanker is loaded with fuel that will be transferred to another tanker," Wysocky said.
FHP troopers and Davie police were asking drivers to avoid the area, which re-opened by 7 p.m.
Traffic was being diverted to State Road 84 at the University Drive exit.
