MARATHON, Fla. – A boat that wasn't properly secured fell off a trailer Tuesday morning and landed on a Florida Keys road, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.
The boat fell off about 7:15 a.m. on U.S. Highway 1, just north of Coco Plum Road, in Marathon.

Herrin said the boat did not have tie-down straps holding it to the trailer as required by law.
A tow truck was called to remove the boat from the road.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
