It happened Saturday afternoon approximately 1.5 miles west of Miami Executive Airport, also known as Tamiami Airport. According to the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) who is investigating the incident, the plane is a single-engine Piper J-5A. Police blocked off parts of Krome Avenue after the plane ended up in the northbound lanes. Officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department and Florida State Troopers were at the scene after the plane landed.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A plane was forced to land on the Sawgrass Expressway Saturday afternoon. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a single-engine Cessna 172 landed on the expressway at 11:40 a.m.Engine failure is what caused the plane to land on the highway, Florida Highway Patrol said. A plane landed along the Sawgrass Expressway causing the southbound lanes to be closed. The southbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway were closed by officials for about 90 minutes until the plane was moved off the highway and onto the median, FHP said. Florida Highway Patrol troopers quickly responded to the scene, which was just south of the Sample Road exit.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Divers from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office have recovered a pilot’s body from inside a small plane that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near Boynton Beach Inlet, officials from the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed Monday. The plane crashed into the water Sunday night about one mile from the Boynton Beach Inlet and the plane was finally located by the Coast Guard and local agencies on Monday morning. According to Coast Guard officials, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that Patter was the sole occupant aboard the single-engine Piper PA-28 aircraft, which seats four passengers. A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter, small boat and cutter conducted a search and rescue mission throughout the evening. They were back out again Monday morning to continue their search efforts, along with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which was in charge of the search.

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A small plane made an emergency landing Wednesday morning on Alligator Alley — only to then have one of its wings clipped by a landscaping truck driving by. The single-engine Mooney M20R made the emergency landing at 9:50 a.m. at Mile Marker 40 on Alligator Alley, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and officials from the city of Weston. The landscaping truck then clipped a wing of the plane, causing it to spin into the grassy area on the side of the highway. Reyes said the pilot was forced to land the plane in the right emergency shoulder. The driver of the landscaping truck was also not harmed in the collision, authorities said.

According to Bergen, the plane departed from North Perry Airport and was flying to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. Records show the plane is registered to Wayman Luy LLC. Its unclear what prompted the pilot to make the emergency landing.

KEY WEST, Fla. – A small plane skidded off the runway Tuesday morning at Key West International Airport. Monroe County spokeswoman Cammy Clark said the twin-engine Beechcraft skidded off the runway about 7:20 a.m. after its gear failed. The plane came to a rest on a gravel road and knocked over a mesh fence. Clark said two people were in the plane at the time, but they weren't injured. Clark said the runway was briefly closed while the plane was removed, delaying a Delta Air Lines flight.

The single-engine Piper PA-28 made the emergency landing on a levee about two miles west of U.S. Highway 27. Two people standing next to the plane appeared to be OK. A Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman later confirmed that there were no injuries. Local 10 News reporter Ian Margol said a flight student and instructor were flying back to North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines when the engine quit. The director of operations for Wayman American Flight Training said he's happy to see them both safely on the ground. "Got to go with first instinct -- whenever we're in a situation, that's what we train as pilots – got to go with your first instinct, the safest instinct," Wayman Luy said.
