The driver of the car, one of the 3 victims, reportedly raced to the gas station. When Broward Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found 1 person already dead near the gas pumps and two survivors inside the vehicle seriously injured. One person was killed and two others were injured after shots were fired in Pompano Beach.

The owner of the home whose pool Rivera fell into has received thousands of dollars of fines for not enclosing the pool, the City of Tamarac told Local 10 reporter Christina Vazquez. According to Tamarac code, pools are required to be secured by either a screened enclosure or a fence. Johansson also noted that the city failed to properly notify the homeowner that there were fines assessed for improper pool enclosure. The City of Tamarac declined further comment now that the matter is under criminal investigation by BSO homicide detectives.

Members of the Broward Sheriff's SWAT team were on scene, heavily armed. Police said the man has multiple outstanding warrants and is also wanted for a burglary out of Coral Springs. When the Broward Sheriff's Office Burglary Apprehension Team got the case, it led them to the hotel. After the suspect refused to come out, the SWAT team was called in and the motel was evacuated.

That led to another attempted traffic stop, this time by BSO deputies and Hallandale Beach police officers near the I-95 exit ramp to Hallandale Beach Boulevard. Police said Rogers pulled over briefly but then began driving off, hitting a deputy with his car in the process. The BSO deputy and a Hallandale Beach police officer fired their guns at Rogers' car as he fled, but no one was hit, authorities said. Both Rogers and the BSO deputy were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
