There are some serious changes coming to Watson Island after voters approved a plan that may lead to the closure of Jungle Island.

A new traffic pattern began Wednesday morning on the westbound lanes of the MacArthur Causeway, just west of Watson Island, and on the ramp to Exit 2, Biscayne Boulevard.

The Museum has joined with Caleb & Calder Sloan’s Awesome Foundation and partnered with Farm Share, to help the less fortunate and hungry with an Awesome Food Giveaway on Tuesday, May 19th from 9 a.m. until noon at Miami Children’s Museum, which is located at 980 MacArthur Causeway on Watson Island in Miami. It is a contactless delivery system for a drive-thru pickup. When it is their turn, they can pull up to the distribution point with their windows up and their trunks open. MIAMI - One person was injured Sunday morning when a car crashed into a palm tree in Miami's Watson Island. The crash temporarily shut down MacArthur Causeway in both directions. Miami police officers closed two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane between the Miami Children's Museum and Jungle Island. Miami Fire Rescue took the person injured to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. Detectives are investigating if speed was a factor in the crash.

MIAMI - A car drove through a police barricade Thursday morning and then crashed into the water near Watson Island, Miami Beach police said. Police pursued the car along the causeway before it drove into Biscayne Bay, Rodriguez said. The man then got out of the submerged car and took off his clothes before surrendering to police, Rodriguez said. Nobody was hurt, but divers searched the water to make sure nobody else was in the car. Miami Beach police had blocked off the westbound lanes of the MacArthur Causeway while they were investigating a fatal crash earlier in the morning.
