According to authorities, the fire occurred around 4 a.m. inside a home on Northeast Fifth Court in the city’s Victoria Park neighborhood. Several Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue units entered the home to extinguish the flames. Authorities said two people and their dog were inside the home at the time, but were able to escape unharmed. Meanwhile, the residents and their pets will be staying elsewhere until repairs are completed at the home.

This is the first time tech companies have pointed the finger at Beijing for covert efforts to influence messaging around the protests in Hong Kong, which have now involved 11 consecutive weekends of mass demonstrations. Facebook then identified about a dozen pages, accounts and groups on its platform that were tied to the operation. The Facebook pages were followed by about 15,000 accounts, the company said.
