A man and woman have been arrested in connection with a burglary ring in the upscale Victoria Park neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale that detectives say stole $400,000 worth of items from residents last year.

According to authorities, the fire occurred around 4 a.m. inside a home on Northeast Fifth Court in the city’s Victoria Park neighborhood. Several Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue units entered the home to extinguish the flames. Authorities said two people and their dog were inside the home at the time, but were able to escape unharmed. Meanwhile, the residents and their pets will be staying elsewhere until repairs are completed at the home.
