Isaias leaving Florida behind, heading toward the Carolinas and Northeast
Read full article: Isaias leaving Florida behind, heading toward the Carolinas and NortheastIt was a lucky weekend for the Florida east coast as Tropical Storm Isaias brushed by just offshore. Upper-level winds out of the west were enough to tilt the circulation eastward, which kept the strong winds and heavy rain offshore. The storm left behind thick tropical moisture over South Florida, which will cause extra heavy thunderstorms when it develops over the next few days. An unusually deep dip in the jet stream is going to push Isaias over the Carolinas, through the Mid-Atlantic states, and into the Northeast. Elsewhere in the Atlantic, a tropical disturbance northeast of Puerto Rico is forecast to move north and stall.
