Sabastian Sawe of Kenya won the London Marathon for his biggest career victory after making a solo breakaway with about 10 kilometers left.

Sifan Hassan traded elbows with Tigst Assefa with 150 meters left in the women’s marathon, then passed her along the railing to win the race for her third distance medal of the Paris Games.

Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya pulled away late to win the London Marathon women’s race on Sunday and cement her status as the favorite to defend her gold in Paris.

Tigst Assefa has broken the women’s world record by more than two minutes at the Berlin Marathon.
