Prichard said deputies followed the car to Stirling Road and Southwest 25th Street in Dania Beach, where there was a bailout. Local 10 News reporter Jeff Weinsier was at the scene as a man was taken into custody. It appeared that he was hiding behind a Tire Kingdom in the area.

Around 10 p.m. on Sunday night, Broward Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an accident scene on Sunrise Boulevard and northwest 27th Avenue. According to a witness, the male driver of a classic-style Oldsmobile vehicle was shot by an unknown gunman while driving southbound on northwest 27th Avenue. The driver was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center by Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue where he was pronounced dead, deputies said. Investigators shut down westbound lanes on Sunrise Boulevard into early Monday morning.

The collisions happened at approximately 6 a.m. Sunday on Sunrise Boulevard near the entrance to the Florida Turnpike. According to Plantation police, Jose Cruz was in his vehicle, stopped at a red light, when he was rear-ended by a red Dodge Caravan. Cruz got out of his car to assess the damage when he was struck by a second vehicle, a black Honda Accord, police said. The driver of the Accord sped away and the driver of the Caravan ran away on foot, according to police.
