It happened Saturday afternoon approximately 1.5 miles west of Miami Executive Airport, also known as Tamiami Airport. According to the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) who is investigating the incident, the plane is a single-engine Piper J-5A. Police blocked off parts of Krome Avenue after the plane ended up in the northbound lanes. Officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department and Florida State Troopers were at the scene after the plane landed.

The victims, a 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy, were rushed to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injures, according to authorities.

He was taken to a nearby hospital, but authorities did not offer an update on his condition. A food truck was also in the area and getting attention from officers at the scene.

Investigators say that the off-duty cop’s 13-year-old son was home alone in the Westchester area of Miami-Dade when he contacted his parents to tell them somebody was trying to break in. The officer — whose name has not been confirmed by authorities — went to the home in the 700 block of SW 98th Court and shot Arias, detectives say. Arias had a criminal history that includes prior burglary convictions, and he was released from prison this past January. “His 13-year-old child was inside the house,” Miami FOP Vice President Mathew Reyes said of the officer.

"When the officers arrived to the scene, they met with the victim, which happens to be an off-duty Miami Dade police officer," Detective Argemis Colome said. Investigators said the 13-year veteran officer was attending a kids party when he was shot in the shoulder by what appeared to be a stray bullet. After hearing of the stray bullet, he said this is not the first time this has happened in the area and it needs to stop.

Pitre said the utility poles that are outside of his home, near the corner of Southwest 168th Street and 122nd Avenue, near Zoo Miami are totally rotted. He has seen the wind sway a teetering utility pole back and forth and has felt fear. Pitre believed that if the poles cause someone's death or injury it will be because of the their negligence, so he called Leave It To Layron. AT&T worked with Florida Power & Light to transfer its equipment and the job got done.
