A wind advisory for South Florida will start at 1 p.m. and remain in effect until 10 p.m., but strong winds are expected through Friday. Winds are expected to reach 20-25 mph with gusts of 30-35 mph or more. With these strong winds, beach and boating activities are not recommended. During these strong winds, some recommended safety tips include securing loose outdoor objects and using caution when driving high-profile vehicles.

A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible and may bring some small hail with them. South Florida has a severe t-storm threat going into the weekend.

Forecast Low Temperatures Tonight (WPLG)The forecast low for Miami is 44, but upper 30s are likely in western suburbs such as Weston, Kendall and Homestead. If that weren’t enough, the cold will combine with gusty north winds, making it feel even colder. A rare wind chill advisory is in effect through 9 a.m. Wednesday, as wind chills will range from the mid-20s to the mid-30s. We know winter doesn’t stay long in South Florida, and warmer weather will return as early as Thursday.

Record-warm minimum temperatures outnumbered record-warm maximum temperatures by 34% in the 2010s. NOAA reported at least 14 weather events in 2019 that cost the U.S. at least $1 billion.

Forecasters expect sustained winds at their peak around 20-30 knots over the Atlantic waters, 25-30 mph along the Atlantic coast and 20-25 mph inland, with higher gusts possible. The Atlantic waters will be dangerous for swimmers with an elevated rip current risk. One other notable change with the onshore winds: temperatures will continue to moderate after a chilly start to the week. The Local 10 Weather Authority team is forecasting low temperatures in the 70s and highs in the 80s for South Florida this weekend.
