The Florida Keys deputy who rescued a pilot who crashed his plane into the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend is sharing his story with Local 10 News.

Adam Barney said he had about 60 seconds to make a decision Sunday morning as his plane’s engines went out over the Gulf of Mexico off the lower Florida Keys.

Two major incidents were reported on the first day of lobster mini season in Monroe County as one man died after losing consciousness at Sawyer Key and another man was airlifted to a hospital after being struck by a boat propeller off the Lower Keys.
