The speaker of New Zealand’s Parliament has told lawmakers that he will not consider further complaints about the use of the country’s Māori name, Aotearoa, in Parliament, after one sought to have it banned.

Authorities said three people were dead and at least one missing as record levels of rainfall pounded New Zealand’s largest city, causing widespread disruption.
