A South Beach landmark will stay put, as the lease is renewed after the owner of Regal Cinemas announces the company has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Regal CInema's set to shut down two movie theaters in South Florida.

Regal Cinemas will be closing several movie theaters across the country. Included on the closure list is South Beach Stadium 18 and Imax on popular Lincoln Road.

Regal had been one of most notable holdouts in the gradual reopening of cinemas nationwide. Universal Pictures last November agreed to deals with AMC and Cinemark — the first- and third-largest chains — to shrink the theatrical window to 17 days, or three weekends.

The move follows Warner Bros.' decision to put “Wonder Woman 1984” on HBO Max in December, along with a concurrent theatrical run. Warner Bros.' move amounts to an acknowledgement that any full rebound for theaters is still a year or more away. Warner Bros. confirmed the films will be available to subscribers with no further charge. After a rocky rollout, HBO Max said in October that nearly 9 million people were using HBO Max, though 29 million had access to the streaming service as part of their HBO subscriptions.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Going to movie theaters to check out the latest releases is an American staple. Cineworld, the parent company of the Regal movie theater chain, announced that it would temporarily close its 663 theaters in the United States and Britain. In South Florida that means four locations will temporarily close in Miami-Dade. They are Regal South Beach, Regal Cinemas at Kendall Village, Regal at The Falls, and Regal Southland Mall in Cutler Bay. In Broward County, Regal Broward & RPX at the Westfield Broward Mall, Regal Sawgrass, Regal Magnolia Place in Coral Springs, Regal Oakwood in Hollywood near I-95 will close their doors along with Regal Westfork in Pembroke Pines and Regal Cypress Creek Station in Fort Lauderdale.
