Earlier this month, DeSantis announced that several Publix locations in the state would serve as COVID-19 vaccination sites for seniors. Registration at the Publix vaccination sites in South Florida opens at 6 a.m. Wednesday and appointments will begin on Thursday.

According to a news release from the Stewart Tilghman Fox Bianchi & Cain law firm, Gerardo Gutierrez, 70, died on April 28 after contracting COVID-19 from a fellow employee at the Publix at 1920 West Avenue in Miami Beach. These employees, including Gerardo Gutierrez, continued to show up at work to help our communities. “The sudden passing of our father has been a devastating loss to our family,” Ariane Gutierrez said in a statement. Because of its careless decisions, our father is not here with us today.”The lawsuit in seeking damages in excess of $30,000.

Read full article: Publix store undergoes deep cleaning after employee tests positive for coronavirusMIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A Publix store in Miami-Dade County recently underwent a deep cleaning after an employee tested positive for the new coronavirus, a spokeswoman for Publix Super Markets confirmed Monday. According to the spokeswoman, Maria Brous, the employee works at the Publix at 9420 SW 56th St.That Publix store is open Monday. Customers shopping there this morning did not know about the positive test and there don’t appear to be any signs. Brous said the store “completed a disinfection-level deep cleaning in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in addition to our daily cleaning and sanitation protocols.”“As part of Publix’s general response to COVID-19, the company has implemented a heightened disinfection program focusing on high-touch surfaces like touch pads, door and drawer handles, phones and computers,” Brous said. All Publix stores open an hour earlier on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for seniors only.

According to the Boynton Beach Police Department, a 14-year-old threatened to commit a mass shooting a local supermarket. An employee of Publix Super Markets contacted police after being made aware of the threat. An investigation led police to the boy's house, where he allegedly admitted to posting the threat. Police charged the teen with making written threats to kill, do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism.
