Prosecutors announced Wednesday afternoon that they are now treating a Feb. 15 shooting on Miami Beach as a hate crime.

A man who is accused of shooting two people in Miami Beach because he thought he “saw two Palestinians” appeared in court Tuesday where his attorney claimed he was incompetent to stand trial and should be evaluated.

A Miami Beach man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly opening fire on another vehicle and striking two people inside.
