MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A South Florida man will not face charges for fatally shooting a car thief who took off with his boss’ Mercedes-Benz G-class SUV in Miami Beach, prosecutors announced in a closeout memo obtained Tuesday by Local 10 News. According to the closeout memo, Stephen Allen Lott, now 50, shot the suspect, Jose Antonio Reyes Bermudez, 58, on Dec. 18, 2018, outside the South Beach Finest Hand Car Wash at 1229 18th St. Prosecutors said Lott ran outside of the car wash waiting area and shouted at the suspect to try to stop him. As he stepped into the path of the Mercedes, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, he fired two shots at the driver-side door, shooting Reyes Bermudez once in the head, the closeout memo stated. It actually struck one of the FPL power poles,” Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said the day of the shooting.

The crash was reported in the southbound lanes of the highway just south of Pembroke Road in Hallandale Beach. Florida Highway Patrol officials said the driver of a black Mercedes-Benz rear-ended a Jeep and a Hyundai. Another vehicle sustained damaged when it was struck by a piece of debris. Authorities said the Jeep rolled over and the driver of the Mercedes got out of his car and took off.

German automaker Daimler said it will split itself into two independent companies by spinning off its truck and bus division. The division had revenue last year of 40.2 billion euros ($48.1 billion) for trucks and 4.7 billion for buses. HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Hallandale Beach. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman who is pregnant were traveling in a silver Mercedes-Benz just north of Hallandale Beach Boulevard when they were shot at just after 1 a.m. Troopers said the couple was traveling in the left lane when a silver Chevrolet SUV approached the vehicle from the right side and shot multiple times into their car. Troopers said the woman was shot once in the right thigh. Troopers said the driver of the Chevy SUV continued traveling north on I-95 without stopping.

The screen also lets the front seat passenger watch television in some markets, while preventing the driver from watching the passenger's screen to avoid distraction. Kallenius said that in developing the screen, the company focused on eliminating information and activities that could preoccupy drivers. It's the first Mercedes car built on its all-electric framework rather than sharing components with an internal combustion model.

SOUTH MIAMI HEIGHTS, Fla. – Investigators were working on Monday to figure out why a driver was going the wrong way while causing a Sunday afternoon five-vehicle crash that left a 58-year-old man dead in Miami-Dade County’s South Miami Heights area. According to Lt. Alex Camacho, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a white Mercedes-Benz sports utility vehicle was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of Quail Roost Drive. Camacho said the rapper immediately made a U-turn back toward Miami Beach and flagged down an officer on 41st Street. Millord told authorities he was coming from a private party in Miami Beach at the time and had not had any altercations with anyone prior to the shooting. Flores said he and Millord were together at a star-studded party on Miami Beach only minutes before the rapper was shot.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Police followed a stolen car, which turned into a chase that ended in Broward County and created an active scene on Sheridan Street in Hollywood around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. Sky 10 was over the scene as the driver exited off of Interstate 95, then stopped the car. Someone bailed out of a black Mercedes-Benz sedan and took off running in a residential area. According to reports on the ground, a K-9 unit sniffed out the suspect hiding in a shed. Local 10 is gathering information as to what led to this chase and arrests.

According to authorities, the shootings occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Northwest 194th Street and 82nd Avenue. Police said someone reported the shooting of one of the men and officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound. One witness, Giovanni Pirri, said he saw the crashed Mercedes outside his Marbella Park neighborhood when was driving home. Quarterly net profit rose to 2.16 billion euros ($2.54 billion), up 19% from 1.81 billion euros in the same quarter a year ago — and improving on a net loss of 1.9 billion euros from the second quarter during the worst of the lockdown. Operating profits, which exclude one-time expenses and financial items such as interest and taxes, rose to 2.42 billion euros from 1.87 billion euros in the same quarter the year before. The company saw strong cash flow and has 13.1 billion euros in net liquidity, resources it can use to develop new technologies such as electric cars and digital services. Daimler AG said that its outlook assumed no new widespread lockdowns.

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – A witness told Local 10 that two men were saying “We’ve been shot. We’ve been shot" as they ran into a North Miami urgent care center. The shooting incident reportedly started on Bay Terrace in Bay Harbor Island with two victims ending up in North Miami, about 2 miles from that location. Bay Harbor Islands spokesperson Brian Andrews told Local 10 that the injured were not residents of Bay Harbor Island. The witness said that “they were wounded real bad.”Crime scene technicians from North Miami police examined the car, placing one evidence marker inside the vehicle’s trunk.

Steve Jean Baptiste pulled out a firearm, shot a 28-year-old man several times, and fled in a white 2006 Mercedes-Benz, the Broward Sheriff’s Office reported on Friday afternoon. Baptiste, 30, is likely to be armed and dangerous, according to Gerdy St. Louis, a spokeswoman for BSO. DAVIE, Fla. – An argument over a parking space in a Walmart lot turned violent quickly on Tuesday afternoon, according to Davie Police. It all happened at the Walmart on University Drive and Griffin Road over a parking-space disagreement. Police said one woman had been waiting for a parking spot but when the space opened up, a silver Mercedes sped into the spot before she could pull in. At that time, when she got out of her car, she was attacked by three people from the Mercedes-Benz, according to police. Video shows the woman on the ground being attacked by the group while other shoppers try to help stop the assault.

WASHINGTON – Automaker Daimler AG and subsidiary Mercedes-Benz USA have agreed to pay $1.5 billion to the U.S. government and California state regulators to resolve emissions cheating allegations, officials said Monday. The settlement, which includes civil penalties, will also require Daimler to fix the vehicles, officials said. Daimler AG said the settlement would bring costs of about $1.5 billion, while the civil settlement will bring a one-off charge of about $700 million. Fiat Chrysler also is being investigated for allegedly cheating on emissions. In April 2016, the Justice Department asked Daimler to conduct an internal probe into its exhaust emissions certification process.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. Two men were arrested early Wednesday after an Uber vehicle was shot at in Hollywood, authorities confirmed. According to a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, the Uber driver picked up a man and a woman from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino shortly before the car was shot up in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Sheridan Street. Local 10 News had a crew at the scene as a black Honda could be seen with bullet holes in it. Hollywood police confirmed that the suspects were in a Mercedes-Benz, which they parked in front of a home off Polk Street and North 13th Avenue before running off. A motive for the shooting remains unclear.

MIAMI Two people were injured Wednesday morning when a white Mercedes-Benz drove off the second floor parking area of a building in the city of Miami, authorities said. The incident occurred in the area of Southwest 58th Avenue and Eighth Street. Authorities said the driver and passenger were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, but they did not sustain serious injuries. A Miami Fire Rescue technical rescue team assessed the building and determined that they did not need to stabilize any part of the area where the crash occurred. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A West Palm Beach man has been arrested after another man's Sunday morning drive in a convertible Mercedes-Benz ended in a fatal crash with a forklift in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Ulises Mondragon Umanzor, 30, was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash, driving without a license and failure to stop at a stop sign. Police said the driver of the convertible was struck by the forks as they protruded out onto Seabreeze Boulevard. Witnesses said the operator of the forklift, identified by police as Mondragon Umanzor, drove away after the crash and headed toward the construction site where he was working. A police probable cause affidavit shows that Mondragon Umanzor had a suspended driver's license and didn't have a license to operate heavy machinery.

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - A 46-year-old man injured in a multi-vehicle accident last week in North Miami Beach has died. Daniel Jeruslami was one of nine people injured in Thursday afternoon's accident at the intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 163rd Street. Surveillance video shows the white Jaguar SUV driven by Jeruslami trying to make a left turn into the shopping plaza when he's hit by a Mercedes-Benz being driven at a high rate of speed. Two others were hospitalized in stable condition after the accident. No citations have yet to be issued in the accident.

Amos Shuler told an officer he "was resting" when he was caught sitting in the front seat of a Mercedes-Benz parked in the driveway of an El Portal home, police say. According to an arrest affidavit, an El Portal police officer was patrolling the neighborhood when he noticed someone sitting in the driver's seat of the Mercedes-Benz. When the officer confronted the man, later identified by police as Shuler, he told the officer he "was resting." Shuler also told the officer that he didn't live at the home but was waiting for his mother, the affidavit said. El Portal police are warning residents of recent burglaries to unlocked vehicles.

(CNN) - Mercedes-Benz is using location censors to track and repossess vehicles in the United Kingdom when drivers fall behind on payments, raising privacy concerns and leading one prominent politician to call for a government investigation. Location sensors are fitted to most new vehicles in Europe, and used in the event of a crash. But the German luxury brand has at times activated trackers to help it find and repossess cars. The use of tracking, which was first reported by UK newspaper The Sun, set off a debate about privacy. "While what Mercedes are doing is technically legal, it belies a deeper problem that motorists are under ever-increasing levels of surveillance," Christopher Weatherhead, technology lead for Privacy International, said.
