Thirty years after Florida required schools to teach African American history, how the subject is taught remains inconsistent across Florida classrooms, a review by The Associated Press has found.

February marks Black History Month, an important topic being taught at South Florida schools, but now parents are being asked to sign off on whether or not they want their children to participate in some of the educational events.
